Dr. Shaening received her Ph.D. in Research and Statistical Methods from the University of Northern Colorado. She received her Masters and Bachelors degrees in philosophy from the University of Michigan. Dr. Shaening is President of Shaening and Associates, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in public sector organization and system development, program planning, and research and evaluation. Dr. Shaening has been providing services to State and local government entities, philanthropic foundations, and non-profit health and human services organizations since 1977. Dr. Shaening oversees all contracts for Shaening and Associates, Inc.
Dr. Shaening has taught undergraduate and graduate classes in evaluation, research methods, statistics, sampling, and measurement for several universities. Dr. Shaening is on the Board of Consultants to the Santa Fe Alliance, the Board of Consultants to the Heart Gallery of New Mexico Foundation, President of the Board of Project Access of the Santa Fe County Medical Society, Chair of the Council on Educational Improvement, and Chair of the Board of Directors of Creative Santa Fe. Dr. Shaening is a 2007 recipient of the Governor’s Award for Outstanding Women. She is married to the artist Ron Pokrasso; they have two perfect sons ages 23 and 25.
